With the growing presence of the internet, a lot of traditional activities can now be done online, even games. The traditional Bingo is a game that involves using balls that are numbered and cards that have numbers printed on them. One person calls out the numbers from the ball to the players who have the numbered cards, and each player checks to see if he/she has got the numbers. The goal of the traditional bingo is to see the first person who will get five numbers in a row. These days however, there is internet bingo where a player logs on and starts playing. The internet bingo has many advantages over the traditional bingo game. These advantages include:

1. Individuals do not need to leave their house to go to a bingo hall to play. They stay right in comfort of their own homes, in their pajamas and play comfortably in front of their computer. The just need a computer and an internet access.

2. There are no office hours for internet bingo. They are open 24 hours so the convenience of playing at any time without any office hour-restrictions feels good and makes individuals go for the internet bingo.

3. The age restrictions have been lifted. For years, bingo was known to be played by older ladies who went to a bingo hall, but the internet bingo has changed that. Now every age and gender can freely play bingo in front of their computer.

4. The current economic status of the world has cautioned individuals to cut avoidable spending. This includes avoiding traveling unless it is really needed. This has contributed to many individuals reducing at bingo halls and increasing at bingo websites.

5. For the bingo companies, it is far cheaper to run a bingo website than a bingo hall; there is less utilities to pay and far less employees to pay to manage the website activities than to manage the bingo hall activities.

6. The money saved by internet bingo operators over those running in the halls leaves them with more opportunities to give free bonuses for online players and sometimes more cash awards than they would have done if they were in the halls. This of course, is to the advantage of the online bingo players.

7. The cash benefits for cards of a smaller value are more when playing bingo online. Several online bingo communities have cash bonuses for one to start playing, so one can even start playing and still win some money without having to deposit money first.

8. There are many forums and communities in online bingo sites so while one is playing, one also gets to make friends from various neighborhood even across countries which one would not have made if it were in a bingo hall. The online forums are very interesting because one gets to discuss with people who love bingo and useful discussions go on without the noise usually associated with the hall.

9. There are several games available on the online bingo sites so that one has a lot of choices to make without leaving his chair.

10. The tenth reason why an online bingo is good is that it has eliminated the stack of papers that an individual accumulates in front of them waiting for their numbers to be called.

Bingo is a classic game and at some point someone had the brilliant idea to come up with cool variations on the traditional game. One of the common variations on classic bingo is to devise a holiday themed bingo games that appeals to people during the various holiday seasons. Among the most popular variations on traditional bingo are the fun Halloween bingo printable games.

These games can be purchased solo or part of a package of various different games. To a great extent, these packaged games are pretty attractive to kids as they really get a bang for their buck. Well, the parents are the one’s who save on the buck while the kids get a whole lot of bang.

Many Halloween bingo printable games can be found within a package of other printable games. In fact, it is not uncommon for printable game packages to include a multitude of different games. So, in addition to having a bingo game to play there may be a half dozen other games to play. What is even additionally great about these packages is the fact that these packages are often offered at a very low price.

Often, you can pick up a package of a ton of games that can cost under $20 and this can make for a very cost effective leisure activity for families that might be on a budget. Also, the variety of games in the package can cover the potential “pickiness” a kid may have in terms of the particular game he or she may want to play. In a way, you could consider these packages games as possessing blanket coverage. Now, that’s not a bad deal is it?

By: Asante Riviera

Do you love playing Bingo but hate the crowd at the Bingo hall? Maybe you have always wanted to play Bingo but never got around to learning how. Online Bingo may be the solution you are looking for! 75 Ball Bingo is a popular online Bingo game which plays much like traditional Bingo. You have Bingo cards, daubers, and a Bingo Caller. You also have competitors to play against and a jackpot to win!

Here is a list of some of the 75 Ball Bingo terms you will need to familiarize yourself with in order to play and win at the game.

Bingo card:

This is your playing card. It is in a grid format with five blocks across and five blocks down. The word BINGO appears across the top five boxes. Each letter in the word BINGO heads a column. The rest of the cells in the grid are filled with 24 random numbers ranging from 1 to 75. In the middle of the Bingo card is a “free space”. This space is automatically covered and will count as a valid covered cell in any winning pattern.

Patterns:

In order to win the game, you will be required to cover numbers on your card which form a pattern. Each game will have its own determined pattern. This will be displayed in the corner of your screen. Many different creative patterns are utilized, as well as a black out, or total card coverage play.

Bingo Caller:

This is a Game Master who will be responsible for calling the numbers you will use to cover your Bingo cards.

Chat:

A vital component of online Bingo is the ability to “chat” with your online competitors and the Game Master. This is your virtual Bingo hall. You typically will have several chat rooms to choose from, so pick one and join in on the fun!

How to play:

Now that you are familiar with some of the 75 Ball Bingo terminologies, here are some instructions and rules to get you started.

First you must purchase your Bingo card or cards. Then the Bingo caller will begin to call out random numbers attached to the letter B, I, N, G, or O. You will then search down the column of the letter called and look for the coinciding number which was called. If you have the number on your card, you may daub (cover) it. Play will continue in this manner until someone completes the chosen pattern for this game. The first person to complete the pattern will be declared the winner. Easy!

Many times the jackpot amounts will depend on how many Bingo cards have been purchased and the number of participants in that game. Some games may have a set minimum jackpot amount regardless of numbers of players.

75 Ball Bingo is fast becoming one of the most popular online games. With the amount of participants growing each day, so are jackpot amounts. With the rising fuel costs, playing Bingo from the comfort of your own home is a great convenience. You will have the opportunity to meet some online friends who share in your passion for Bingo. So, instead of fighting the sea of overly zealous “I heart Bingo” clad masses at the local Bingo hall, grab your virtual daubers and head to your computer. Troll dolls or other good luck charms optional.

By: Simon Paul Capel

Phonics is a popular method of teaching children to read that is based around the child learning to connect sounds with letters or groups of letters. For example, the child would learn that the hard “k” sound is associated with the letters “c”, “k” or “ck”. To be fair, using phonics as a method of teaching reading has not been without controversy, particularly in the United States of America, at least since the mid 19th century, and especially since the reemergence of phonics in the 1950s.

Those teachers who do use phonics, generally use them in a variety of different classroom activities, not just when students are reading from books or writing. For example, phonics and phonics-based skills can be incorporated into many different classroom activities and educational games, including, for example, bingo.

Phonics bingo is played like the traditional game of bingo: Each player (student) is given a card containing a five by five grid of squares, and aims to mark of a line of items (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) in response to items called out by the bingo caller (teacher). The different however between phonics bingo and traditional bingo, is that the cards, instead of being printed with numbers, are printed with words appropriate to the subject of the lesson. Additionally, game play may be modified in a variety of different ways.

Some ideas for phonetics bingo include:

1. Partial word bingo – The teacher says something like “find the word with ‘pin’ in it”, in response to which the students would have to find “spin”.

2. Blending bingo – The teacher reads out a word slowly, for example “sss-nnn-aaa-p”, and the students must find the corresponding word.

3. Rhyming bingo – The teacher reads out a word, and students need to find the word that rhymes with it.

4. Silent E bingo – The teacher reads out a word like “pin” and asks what what word you would get by adding an E.

It should also be remembered that phonics is not a complete solution to learning reading. Students must also learn to recognize some common words which can not be sounded out (the most common list of such words is known as Dolch Sight Words). Many teachers also emphasize learning to sight read other common words (such as “is” or “it”) as this can improve reading fluency. Therefore as well as playing phonics bingo, you can also play sight word bingo in class.

By: Sunil Tanna

Educational bingo is increasingly popular as a classroom activity as more and more teachers are realizing that the game can easily be adapted to a variety of different lesson plans. Apart from the simple fact that students of all ages can enjoy the game, there are many other reasons by bingo is growing in popularity, not least the fact that it’s very inexpensive to play (important given the constraints that today’s teachers work under), but also the facts that game play mechanics can be modified to teaching pretty much any subject to any age range of students.

Bingo can play a role in teaching many different subjects, including math (the squares on bingo cards can be printed with math problems for which students must write in the answers rather than simply marking off squares), telling the time, geography, history, science, foreign languages, and yes, reading. In fact, bingo particularly excels in reading classes, and it is here that the game is most commonly encountered in schools.

In reading bingo, the game is played using the same basic game play mechanics as traditional bingo – the player’s (student’s) objective is to find a line of five matching items vertically, horizontally or diagonally as the items are announced by the bingo caller (teacher), however the bingo cards are printed with words instead of the usual numbers. These words can be sight words (words that students must learn to immediately recognize in order to achieve reading fluency), words that students are in the process of practicing this week, or they can be chosen specially in order to practice a variety of phonics games. Some examples of phonics games, include the teacher asking students to find rhymes, find a longer word that contains a shorter word or sound, find a word that the teacher reads out slowly (e.g. “fff-lll-aaa-p”) so that students must practice “blending” letters, and so on.

By: Sunil Tanna

Good teachers are always on the look-out for engaging, interesting and fun educational activities to use in their classes. One such activity that is growing in popularity, is bingo. The reasons for this, are that bingo is very easy to learn and play, adaptable to almost any type of lesson, subject or student age group, and is not requiring of expensive specialist materials. In short, it’s an ideal game for use in schools, colleges and other educational situations.

When bingo is played as an educational game, one of the main differences from traditional bingo is that a different style of bingo cards are used. In traditional bingo, bingo cards containing a 5 X 5 grid of numbers are used. However, in educational versions of bingo, each item on the grid is an item specific to the subject being taught – for example the name of a country, city, mountain or river in a geography class, or the names of different plants or animals in a biology class, and so on. Bingo is suitable for use in a range of subjects across the entire curriculum, but is a particular favorite among math teachers. The most common way to play the game is to use bingo cards containing math questions – students must write in the answers to questions that come up, rather than simply tick off squares, but there are other variations too. Another idea is to use bingo cards containing numbers, and in this case, the teacher calls out math problems (or writes them on the blackboard), and the students must mark off the number which is the solution to the problem.

There’s no limit on the kinds of math classes which bingo can be used for. It’s probably fair to say that it’s most popular as a tool for encouraging practice of basic arithmetic, especially multiplication and multiplication tables. That’s not bingo’s only use though! Another popular activity is bingo using fractions or decimals – in this version students may be required to convert between different representations of the same number (e.g. marking off any of 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, or 0.5, if the teacher calls “a half”).

To play fraction bingo, or in fact any other educational version of bingo, you will of course need the appropriate special bingo cards. Once upon a time, it wasn’t possible to get cards customized to your exact requirements, and the closest thing was preprinted cards from a specialist publisher (which were also often quite expensive). Today however you can simply print bingo cards using your computer – download some bingo card creator software, and it’s a simple job to printed as many cards as you want, whenever you want.

By: Sunil Tanna

The ability to tell the time is one of those things that most adults take for granted. I mean by this that when you glance at a clock or see a time written down, comprehending what time of day it indicates doesn’t seem to involve any obvious mental effort. Nevertheless we aren’t born with this ability, and whether or not you remember learning it, the chances are that you first learned to tell the time when in school.

Learning to tell the time, like many other things taught in K12 schools, requires a combination of good teaching and of course practice. It is for this reason that today’s teachers are always on the look out for classroom activities which are stimulating for their students and will encourage learning. One such activity that has greatly grown in popularity in recent years (in terms of the K12 curriculum in general, and telling the time lessons in particular), is bingo.

In order to play telling the time bingo, each student is first given their own bingo card. The key difference however from traditional bingo is that the student’s bingo cards are printed with times of the day (e.g. “4:20″ or “1:45″) instead of numbers. The teacher then acts as bingo caller, and reads out different times, and students mark the corresponding squares off their cards. So, for example, when the teacher says “quarter to two”, students will need to locate the square on their bingo card containing “1:45″. It is of course also possible to vary the game play, for example, the teacher could use either or both of 12 and 24 hour clocks, or the teacher could hold up a clock at the front of the class (set to the appropriate time) instead of reading out times. Whichever variant you play, the objective of the game is for students to mark off a line of five items from their card, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally – and the first student to do so, is the winner.

If this sounds like a worthwhile activity, you will of course need to get some bingo cards printed with different times of day. Probably the simplest and cheapest way to obtain them is to simply printed them yourself using your PC. Get some bingo card creator software and you can easily print out bingo cards in any quantity that you might want. What’s more, doing the job yourself let you to customize the cards content, so the cards can be used not only for telling the time lessons, but any other subject that you feel appropriate too.

By: Sunil Tanna
